I am 2.5 weeks post op, and and on soft solids. Well I was feeling good and my wife made a low fat terriyaki chicken and broccali dish, well the chicken was not grinded or:tongue_smilie: mashed up enough. Mann am I sorry. I ended up throwing up and feeling like crap, well I will never do that again. Please learn from my mistake

Yep, probably not the best choice you could have made only 2 1/2 weeks out. How are you feeling today? Just a suggestion, after having a bad "episode" like that, it is usually a good idea to go back on liquids for 24 hours.

Broccoli is one of the most common problem foods for bandsters. The tops are ok, but the stems won't go through. That was the first food I got stuck on. Just thought I would mention that little tidbit.

Good luck!

I have found that if I put my vegies in my steamer and over steam then till they are very soft I have NO problems with any vegies.

I've noticed that I can eat just about anything now as long as I take small bites and chew, chew, chew but my problem is I have "forgotten" on occasion and when starving, I ate too fast and didn't chew enough and what I was eating got stuck and felt like a huge lump in my chest! I just keep trying to burp and it seems to help after a while... so don't forget SMALL BITES, CHEW, CHEW, CHEW!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
