I was banded at the end of JUne. My weight loss was going along fine but since the first of September I have been at a plateau. I have lost one pound in five weeks. I am walking 5 days a week for about 20 minutes and started keeping a food journal. That only made things more frustrating because I saw what I was eating and still not losing weight. I have the 14 cc band and even though I have about 9 ccs of saline, I am still not feeling any restriction. So I am relying on willpower and to be truthful if I had been good with willpower I wouldn't have needed the LAP Band. I am confident in my doctor but I am definitely sad and disappointed. I just want to know has anyone else had this experience. When do you get restriction with the 14 cc band--I know we are all different but just to give me an idea. Help:blushing:

hi, I have a 14cc band. Plateaus just happen. When they happen to me I go on dr fox's plateau busting diet. search that name on this site. Basically I eat all Protein and less than ten preferably zero carbs for a few days.I have 5.4cc's in my band and have good restriction. It really works.Hope this helps Denise

I have a 14cc band also and was feeling terrible, no restriction until I hit 5cc then it felt good, I lost 6lbs that month went for another checkup and he would only give me less than 1/2cc (after I pleaded) that was last month and I went back to no restriction at all (strange) so went back yesterday and he was very surprised at no loss, he gave me more than a 1/2 cc and I am miserable today. Cant keep anything down yet but I need to hold off another day on liquid only, he did suggest that. Anyway, my point is everyone is so different, it will happen, you have room for more fills so don't stress to much. just know that it will happen. Sounds like your doing everything right and eating correctly. Good luck and hope my story helps a bit.

Thanks for the help. I know this too will pass, but it helps to hear from others

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
