Hello Jersettes!

I've been working on building my sister's business website while I am in the land of the internet connection! She seems to have more faith in me and my skills with Frontpage than I do! Can't beat the price though! So much for the advice of not giving it away for free....hehehehe.

Pat... I become instantly stupid when I try to pay pogo games with a real people... so you'll have to be assimilated by the Borg before I can play with you. :)~

Diane... That post of mine was riviting... thought provoking and downright brilliant... too bad I only have to ability to do that once a year...lol.

Jessica... sorry for the stall with the weight-loss... your really look fantastic so don't let the stall take away from the joy of just how beautiful you look right now. :)

Kat... Go ahead... name me girl... just please don't call me "Porky"... my parents had an adult friend that called me that all of the time when I was a tween and teen... what a turd he was. Oh how I miss having a horse... sigh... with my hubby's fear of horses I doubt I ever will again. Hmmmm... guess I'll just have to come play with your lil ponies!

Betty... Normal is boring...never be normal. :) Why is it that we haven't a picture of your new hair-do...and the new "girls"????

Michaele... Congrats on the 20 pounds lost... that is amazing! I wish WI was closer to NJ for a get-together...ALAS... I am just a Jersette wanna-be!

Sherry.... I sure to hope you are able to find a way to have restriction without reflux! (((Hugs))) Things just shouldn't be so hard should they! Call me anytime you need to talk and I promise to be a good listener. I've been taking ALLI for 2 weeks now and am down 8 pounds and haven't pooped my pants yet. :) I thought I would give it a month to see how my body would react and so far none of the really bad gastric side-effects. Double Yay!

Back to the website... (((hugs))) and BOOs to All!

hey girls!!!

guess what? I am now down 22 pounds!!! woo hoo! I am so excited!!!! I absolutely LOVED getting that fill!

So, I want to definitely schedule a meetup for us Jersey Girls. When is everyone available? I think a weekend is best. My only weekends not good in November is the 8th, 9th and weekend of Thanksgiving.

congrats on the 8 pounds Darcy maybe this is a good kick start for you!!

On tuesday at the gym I was talking to one of the instructors/trainers that I really like. She is always very encouraging and when she tells me I look good I actually believe her. Well on tuesday she was telling me that I was looking good and I said the scale was not being nice - not going up but not going down - and she said well I can see that you are still losing inches and you are gaining muscle which will affect the scale. so now that is my story and im sticking to it :-) I am a little bummed about the scale but at the end of the day I am still really happy with my results so far. I have vowed not to weigh myself again until 11-6 which is my 1 year anniversay. I was weighing myself everyday a few times a day so it got out of control. also about 2 weeks ago I decided to revalutate what I am eating and I realized that I was snacking and picking way to much and not on good stuff like fruits but on chocolate and Cookies and cakes. So for the last 2 weeks I have not snacked and quess what...IM STILL ALIVE!!!! and no I was not snacking because I was hungry but because I love sweets. when I was first banded I would treat myself every so often but for the past 2 months or so - since I got back from vacation - treating myself became a every day act. So fingers are crossed that the scale starts to be my friend again. I have my 1 year follow up on 11/19 and I will be happy and proud of myself no matter what the scale says its better then the 277 it said when I started this journey.

sorry for yammering on and on its just one of those days :-)

Oh and it feels so good to hear compliments from my parents and other family memebers. they never put me down before but to see and hear their reactions when they see me is just so encouraging especially when we tend to put ourselves down more often then not.

Ok I am not yammering...for now ;-)

Jess, you have done wonderful. I wish I had the gumption to do what you do. For some reason even though I know I'm worth the effort...when it comes to me...I just don't take that step or don't keep to it. I don't know what it is about that...why I just don't get this down pat  Ok yeap....I think I'm overtired and getting down on myself so I need to stop. You really have done wonderful and you definitely should be proud!!!! Congrats.

Happy Hallowinnie!

Only got a minute but wanted to say hello. We are having a costume day at work so I have to get ready. I wasn't going to dress up but everyone kept say just come as a Harley chick. So guess I can do that one.

I am going to wear a doo rag, and boots, a leather vest, my new coat, and some leather leg protectors. I also have a harley Bracelet that I got years ago and never wore. I might put that one on too. Since I cut my hair, none of my hair things will work though.

When I get home we will have the bbq and block party. I am glad it's Friday and I won't have to work the next day.

Dang I started sneezing and almost lost this post. time to get dressed, catch you all later!

Don't let the goblins get you tonight!

thanks Sherry!! It is hard going to the gym especially now that I am working the second job but I know that I wouldnt be where I am weight loss wise if I was going. And I love the fact that I actually have muscles in my arms and legs. I may even have ab muscles but the belly fat/skin is covering those.

No need to get down on yourself!!! we all have our struggles and just have to keep working on getting past them...take it day by day that is all we can do.

Happy Halloween All!

I've been "MIA" for awhile and have missed being here! Just way too much going on. Some good, some bad, some ugly! Oh well!

I probably did a bandster "forbidden" this week. Joined WW for the thousandth time in my life. I just need some kind of structure and am hoping that reporting in once a week, not getting on the scale daily and having to be "accountable" will help. I'm finding that their "core plan", which I never followed in the past, mirrors alot of the rules a bandster is supposed to follow. So, we'll see. I figure it can't hurt!

Well, tonight is the 2nd halloween for us in our current neighborhood. (We moved there a little over a year ago). Last year, we ran out of candy after about 350 kids. Had to put a sign up! I have about 400 treats this year and then THAT'S IT!!! I have never seen anything like it. I'm taking a picture this year....last year I recall looking out from our driveway and just seeing a sea of people. Almost like a riot scene! (Our neighborhood must be highly rated on the "good candy" scale!).

Well, just wanted to say "hi" and let you all know that I have been thinking of you!

Happy Halloweenie peeps!

Lord I hope I have every piece of candy taken tonight because I've done enough damage already :smile2:

Darcy...I'm going to have to talk to you about the Alli stuff. Wondering if it's worth a shot myself.

Trish...don't say it's a no no to join WW. Many people in LBT have done it. If you do a search I bet you'll find plenty of threads on it :tt1: It is a healthy way to eat so absolutely no harm in it :tt1:

Good Morning, ladies. I hope you all had a happy Halloween. My DH and I usually just sit on the porch, drink and scare the little kids. It's quite fun.. we decorate and play scary music. This year we didn't have many kids though.. maybe about 30. I'm not sure if this is a trend or just my area of the neighborhood.

Pat- I'm sorry but I didn't see your e mail about Wednesday night. An e mail may work better for me during the week, because I don't always get on the site until the weekends. I hope you and Diane were able to meet.

Diane - thanks for your insights. I appreciate it.

I'm doing pretty well overall with my weight so far. It's been 4 months and I just hit 40lbs. I'm okay with that .. being in my 50's I know my metabolism isn't as fast as it used to be. I am aiming for 50 lbs by Christmas, and I'm going to try and stay away from the sweet stuff. I hope it is not a too lofty goal! :cursing:

Sherry - thanks for giving me info about the Witches ride -- you ladies are giving me bike envy. LOL

Jessica - your pics look wonderful and I know I have read the same things the trainer is telling you. You have done so well and will continue to do so... muscle not only weighs more than fat, but is more desirable for overall health. It also looks a helluva lot better.

Kat - thanks for the weather update.. it sounds beautiful. It's been colder in this area of Virginia than it usually is this time of year. But I can't complain... my homestate of NJ had snow this past week!

Betty - keep the faith - 92lbs is no small feat!

Take care everyone, :)

Donna

Darcy,

You sound like you are doing great with it, I was wondering if it was worth it because according to a mayo doctor the said this:

How much weight could I lose using Alli?

Alli can help you lose weight, but the weight loss likely won't be great — perhaps just a few pounds more than you would lose with diet and exercise alone. Only a small number of studies have evaluated the effectiveness of Alli. And many of the weight-loss estimates are based on studies conducted on its prescription-strength counterpart, Xenical.

The average weight loss for prescription-strength Xenical is modest — about 6 pounds greater than diet and exercise alone after one year. So at half the strength, Alli could conceivably result in an average of 3 pounds lost in a year in addition to the approximately 8 pounds you could expect to lose from diet and exercise alone.

I was just wondering if you have changed the way you are eating also and if you are doing exercises with it too? I just figured 8 pounds in a year just wasn't worth the money spent on it. But if you lose more than that as in your example it might be worth it. Although every other diet pill I ever took as soon as you stop taking it you gain it all back again. So, I am not sure I want to start one again if that is the way it will work and I sure don't want to take it for life. I thought with your nursing background you might be able to answer me with some of my questions.

Hello Y'all!

Just sticking my head in to say hello. I am busy doing chores as I didn't get them done yesterday. I ran around all day and now I am paying for it. lol

Is there a November thread???

If so....I didn't see it! Wanted to drop in and let everyone know, keep the monkeys caged, I am going out of town! Headed to TX here in an hour or so, will be gone for 7-10 days. I am taking my laptop, but not sure if I can find a WiFi hotspot to use it or not! The farm has no cable or phone lines, since we are only there a few weeks a year....and cell service is only a dream. We are truly in the boondocks out there!

I will check in if I get a chance......hugs to all!

Kat

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
