Too Many Complications???

Recommended Posts

I have had my band for 13 months now and have had some complications or more problems since banding than prior.

I have had:

  • hemmeroid banding 6 times
  • anal fistula
  • diagnosed with
    • IBS
    • sleep apnea
    • PCOS

    [*]Gallbladder pain & removal

[*]gastritis issues before & after banding

    [*]Dehydration

I have been asked why my band hasn't been removed after gallbladder removal. I even had it recently put in my upper endoscopy report that "We will discuss further treatment options at this time including possible reverse of her gastric band procedure"

When I read this I feel like I worked so hard lost 50 lbs and had to have a total unfill since I have been having alot of nausea & vomitting issues 9 days straight with several times a day. I feel like I am a big letdown.

Please let me know if I am not alone in this battle.

You're certainly not alone, and the band just isn't right for everyone unfortunately.

If you look around in complications, you'll see that it just doesn't work right for all.

I'm sorry you're going through that, and though I don't specifically know about it causing all of those things I definitely feel for you.

Keep in touch with your doctor to find out what they think you need to do, if they think the band is causing your body all of these complications, it would be better to take care of it sooner than later. Don't let them, let you, slip through the cracks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
