I need help, insurance question

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have had a rough day. Doctor couldn't find port for my first fill. Now I have found out that the person who files insurance at the bariatric surgery office did the pre-auth for the wrong procedure. She filed it for gastric bypass and of course, when I had my lapband done, they filed the actual charges for lapband. So, there is a discrepancy at Cigna. My charges are pending. Of course, we're talking about 26K here. They paid my doctor already but didn't pay for the the operating room and all the other expenses. I'm nervous. If it could go wrong with this organization, it has. I'm not trying to be a big old baby about this, but let's face it, in these economic times, this is not what any of us need.

Now I am stressed and I just want to grab the ice cream.

Any advice (besides 'don't eat the ice cream'??!!)

Thanks everyone!

Ks

my best advice to you I work at an insurance company, Iwould call and see exactly why its pending and for how long, I would ask them how long their preauth process takes and if there is anything you can help to submit to mak ethe process go by any faster. You want to ensure if its provider information they are waiting on. to hound your provider to get that information in. we only do benefit advisories but they only take 2-3 business days to review so definatly stay on top of it and im sure it will all be fine.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
