Do you mean and EKG? If so, they just place some stickies all over you and then press a button. 15-30 seconds later your done. Absolutely no pain.

I don't believe there are any pre-op tests that you will be put under for. I have not found any to be painful.

I have no idea then. I would look it up on the internet and see what it says.

Good luck with that one!

I've had 4 of them done in the last 6 months. Different physicians do them differently. Some do them in the office, under a muscle relaxant. You are awake, and it's uncomfortable. You end up gagging a lot. Done & over in 10 minutes though. Most doctors, (mine) does them on an outpatient surgical basis. They hit you with some morphine & versad so you are pretty much in lala land. You are actually awake and aware of everything that is happening. To someone who is watching, they will see you choking or gagging on the tube. You appear that it's not a fun experience. But the drug cocktail has an amnesic effect on you. After it's all done, you remember nothing. So for the patient, you think you went to sleep and woke up when it's over. Actually quite a nice way to do it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
