Just bumping this post. I am serious about my previous question. Rockbandster, you have obvious opinions about the Realize band, but you have also been sucessful with your band. I would love to hear some tips from you since you have lost your weight. Lets focus on the positives now, give those of us who have some more weight to lose some inspiration!

There really are no magic tricks to this....if the band is not positioned properly and not hitting the nerves on your stomach you won't be hungry and won't want to eat.

You must however be committed to the lifestyle changes or neither band will do anything.

I think you meant to say if the band is not positioned properly you will be hungry. Or maybe if the band is positioned properly you won't be hungry.

You also need restriction though. The nerves on the stomach work by responding to the pouch expanding. If the stoma formed by the band is too large (due to lack of restriction), the food doesn't sit in the pouch long enough and so you don't get that full feeling.

This is why many bandsters report being extremely hungry in the early days. They are in what we call "Bandster Hell" where they haven't got restriction but are supposed to limit calories. Once you start to get restriction, it all comes together and the band works to curb hunger and let you lose weight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
