Tomorrow is our day

I hope everyone faired well today. I did not have to be at the hospital until 10:45 and the surgery was delayed a bit. I did not get to my room until after 6pm. I did the 11 day pre-op diet and lost 13 lbs in that timeframe.

As of the time of this posting (12:43 am) I have been up twice walking, pee'd twice (tmi i know) and just waiting for a big giant gas bubble. I do see the 'pain' that people talk about in their left shoulder. I have it myself but isnt too bad if I walk.

I am so glad to hear things went well for you!! You are gonna be alright!! I am sure that you have enjoyed the scenic tour of the 4th floor at UCH. There was a group of us doing our laps with our IV poles - NASCAR in hospital gowns!!

I get my first fill from Dr Dietrick next week (Oct 7th) - I'll let you know how it goes. I think I am more afraid of the Fill than the surgery (I was unconsious for the surgery and couldn't see that being done!). Keep me posted!!

thanks. I made it home around 10am today and was doing fine till i took a nap. I laid down until i got up at 3pm and holy lordy. i ached all over but mostly in my belly and diaphram. As sad as it sounds i am just dying to let out one big fart.. my poor brother.

i have tried laying on my side to help facilitate that but so far it isnt comfortable that way.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
