I just want to share how thankful I am that the band arrived when it did. For the very first time in my life I feel like I might have the help I have always needed, and that the second half of my life might be lived in the 'normal' world. That is, normal without constant stress, feelings of deprivation, self-loathing, and failure.

I think I really might have a guardian angel. :(

I am like you Alexandra, I never thought this would be possible and that I would always just be what I have known for so long. On the outside I always seemed OK, but my weight made me make a lot of bad choices and I put up with alot I doubt I would have otherwise. But......... we can't go back and I am excited at the prospect of not hating myself and feeling beautiful.

I will be banded (I live in Australia) next Tuesday 29 July and I have waited on the list for the hospital for nearly 10 months - but that time was invaluable to research and sort out things in my head.

I could go on about the angels I have one or maybe two - but I'll bore you with that another time...

Glenda

Glenda, I'm right there with you - I can only imagine how much crap I *won't* take from people once I'm banded and have lost a lot of weight! :P But we can't go back and redo the past, we can only make the future better. And I'm another who's so thankful that the band is available now. I'm ready to start life as the new and improved me! :(

I can say this until I'm blue in the face and still not have said it enough. The band is the best thing that I have ever done for myself. I still can't believe it actually happened.

I'm thankful as well, and so glad that I didn't wait any longer. It's been amazing, the changes that I am feeling physically and mentally. I have so much more hope and a lot less doubt about the future. I've failed on so many diets and exercise plans, and had given up, on weight loss. I had resigned myself to being fat, and was going to make the best of it. When I heard about the band from a co-worker, and saw her weight loss, I had to give it one more try. I'm glad I did.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
