I am a week post op and now can eat blended Soups and slimfast. I am 31 yrs old and lost 40 pounds in my two week pre diet and the first week post op. I have not had a fill yet, so I am not really restricted on portions, my question is, how many calories should I be limiting my self to. I am trying to limit what I eat, but I wan to be careful. Any help would be great

My doc RECOMMENDS 1000 cal/day. Of that, 65 grams should be Protein and no more than 100 grams should be carbs. I sometimes creep up to near 1200 but I haven't gone over that yet. Truthfully, I haven't been able to. I have extreme restriction without any fill. :frown: While I was on liquids, I got hungry real easy. My doc told me to eat more frequently. He said a 200 cal protein liquid five times/day. I found that if I waited to drink my Water until I was near my next "meal" I didn't get hungry as fast.

I think my first week of surgery I was lucky to hit 600 calories. From day 8 until day 21 I was at around 900 calories.

I am almost 11 weeks post op now and I keep my calories in a range of 1000-1400 per day. I try to hit 1400 around 2 days a week to keep my metabolism up. I am still losing 2 lbs a week with only 1 fill of 1cc in my 11cc band. I will probably go for another fill in 3 or 4 weeks. I eat around a cup of food 3-4 times per day. I log my food each day on fitday.com to make sure I am staying in range.

I am three weeks out of surgery and have lost about 35lbs including prepop time. I have found that if I go over 900 calories, I stop losing weight. I am eating low fat, low carb Soups, about 6 ounces 4 times a day and it has been working pretty well. I can't wait to start on soft foods next week.

Your progress is astounding so keep up the good work!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
