No waiting required!

Recommended Posts

Just spoke w/the nurse at Dr. Goldsteins nurse on thurday, and was informed that I have a low vit b1 level, and my insurance does not require any wt. mgmt. program for approval. I went to the new beginnings program that is required that I attend for the nutritional and beh therapy, and it went well. I have 5 classes to attend and will go to support group meetings weekly. I will met w/my case manager at the end of Oct. and if at that time I have loss the required 10lbs pre-op and have everything on my checklist complete, I will get my chart faxed to the surgeon and it will be submitted to the insurance company. I had set in my mind that I would have to wait 3-6months and now it seems like I could be waiting less time than that. I am not sure how to feel. I will start my 1500 cal diet on monday. Just went food shopping for the meats and will do the rest today. Thanks for listening.

Dawn, what type of insurance do you have? My policy also requires no 6 month diet. It is exclusive to my policy not my insurance. I was declined because someone did not read the fine print of my policy that said that I did not need a six month diet. I have to wait a few more days to see how quickly it goes back through to see if I get to keep my Oct 13 appt. I am just curious what other insurances do not require a six month diet.

I have keystone health plan east/BCBS POS. I don't have a problem waiting, but if I could go in Dec. that would be great. I will do the nutrition program anyway so, it will be a monitored program anyway. I start next thursday. I will be starting the monitored 1500cal. diet and will start back at the gym on wednesday and sat. So once I submitt my paperwork, it will show 1 month on program monitored diet and exercise.

I hope not to get a disapproval, but if I do, and have to wait 3-6months, that will be ok. I want them to know that I am seriously trying and giving it my all.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
