What's the max you lift at a time? My doc has us limited to 15 pounds for the first 2 weeks. A job like you describe, because of the lifting? I'd guess at least 3, maybe 4. Your surgeon can say what s/he recommends and also give you documentation, should you need it, for your employer. You'll probably feel much better before then, but after surgery, even laparoscopic, you need to heal and your band needs to settle.

I work in a warehouse on the receiving dock. I was told the same thing about not lifting over 10 pounds for 2 weeks. I had alot of sick time built up so I took 4 weeks. They said they usually do 3 but they could ok 4. I took it. I wanted to make sure that I was fully recovered before I had to go back to work. We are required to lift up to 75 pounds. (I really don't do alot of heavy lifting, but there's lots of bending, stooping, twisting and lifting. I couldn't bend at the waist(to put my dogs in their kennels) for about 10 days after my surgery. Susan:thumbup:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
