2 things... to ask post op 15 days

Recommended Posts

I am a fast healer. Always have been. Anyway I was banded 2 weeks ago. I was on liquids for 11 days, before I went to purreed. I was suppose to start purred on day 14, but was soooooooo starved that I went to purred foods. I did that for 4 days, but my blender sucks, and I had to end up chewing the food anyways. I cant afford another blender ( yes i am that broke) So I just said screw it, I went to soft foods and I chew them really well. I stay satified for 4-5 hours, I eat very lil, less then a cup of food. I was suspose to stay on 2 weeks of liquids, 2 weeks of purred (which I dont get?) and 2 weeks of soft foods and then regular foods. I am just wondering if anyone else skiped a couple of steps and did fine?

Also, I have noticed since surgury, I get painful gas bubbles stuck in my right upper side ( in the area of where your big intensent curves) Anyway I take gas-x that doesnt seem to help. I walk (hurts more when I walk) I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced this too? :tongue2: Its like that stitch in your side, but its gas.. grrr

congrats on your banding!!!! i also skipped a step or two, i thought i was gonna chew my arm off on liquids!! i stayed on them for 1 wk, then my doc said i can introduce purred foods.i was big on mashing up bananas with non fat vanilla yogurt, this took the place of eating ice-cream everynight, i am 3 mths post op and still have that snack for Breakfast or night snack and have lst 40 pounds so far. i never had the pains your describing but i would put a call to your surgeon and see what advise he can give you..best of luck....irish

I did liquids for 1 week and then on to mushies for 2 weeks and then on to regular food. I dont eat much and I chew very well. I had my surgury 5 weeks ago. I have lost 20 pounds. I have not lost no weight in about 2 weeks but have not gained either. I get my first fill Oct.6.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
