New and wondering?

Recommended Posts

Im new to the site and i thought i'd ask.

How bad would it be to start TTC a few days past 4 weeks postop?

We've been TTC since June 2002 for #2. I feel that since its taking us so long already it wouldn't hurt to start trying now. I've lost 23.3lbs already in 4 weeks. For some of you pro lapbanders, what would you say??

Most doctors say to wait 1-2 years. However, I think it is safest to give it at least 6 months at an absolute minimum. If you have morning sickness causing vomiting on top of a new band, you might risk a slip and lose the band.

Also, this is a great time to work on yourself. There is so much to learn and understand during the early days of banding. It is a lifestyle change and you should give it 110% for yourself. Pregnancy on top of it will be an added stress.

If you do choose to wait, just imagine how much healthier you will feel and better you will look with a pregnant belly.

Thank you for answering... :tt1:

I have to say that i've thought about it since making this post and i've made up my mind to atleast wait until dec. That gives me so much time to get as much weight off as i can. I know all about the lifestyle changes and all that comes along with the band. I've seen my mom live with hers for 5 yrs now. I guess whats the hardest for me is going from ttc for 6 yrs to not for awhile.

Here's to hoping these next 3 months go by fast!

I had a friend that was TTC forever and a day with no luck. She went on the pill for a couple of months, when she went off again she got pregnant the following month. Somehow going off the pill triggered ovulation for her (she had polycystic ovaries and insulin resistance with only a couple of periods a year if she is lucky).

Perhaps a little break is just what you need to get the juices flowing again. Not to mention weight loss really enhances fertility. My husband and I are TTC now and are hoping to get lucky before the year is through :0). I waited til I was just about at goal . . . and we are definitely ready.

You should read some of the threads in the pregnancy forum regarding TTC post banding. It is really encouraging.

Perhaps we will both be lucky enough to have a new addition in 2009. Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
