How about a threesome? No, get your mind right...I mean swim, bike, and run. Targeted exercise is a myth. There is nothing that'll get rid of the love handles other than consistent exercise or surgery. Genetics play a role too, Even when I weighed 165 at age 20 (top physical shape) I had a small amount of side roll. Swimming is my favorite as it has changed my body the most.

Hi Kagoscuba,

Unitarian-Universalist in CT checking in here...

When I worked summers as a lifeguard, I was told that swimming was great for aerobic fitness, but not necessarily great for fat loss because the Water helped keep your "burn" rate low (temperature difference, plus you don't sweat as much in the water).

What was your swimming routine, and how much of the other two did you do? I loved to swim, and got away from it for quite a while. My hubby was recently told he has arthritis in his knee, so he's looking into getting back into the Water, and I'd love to go with him...

Thanks in advance for the info!

I wish I had an answer too. I've heard pilates (yes I have the DVD and need to use it) is great for toning and shaping your abdominal area. I actually enjoy doing it.

I have a six pack, unfortunately it is covered by my apron. Thus, I cannot see it. I have the dreaded apron - oh how I hate it. I'm planning on a good doctor, sterile hospital room, scaple, stitches and lots of good drugs to take care of what exercise won't.

The best way to get rid of a spare tyre is to lose the fat - for me, lots of cardio works, I do minimum strength training (coz I hate it). But a combination is what's usually prescribed.

You cant spot reduce it, it really doesnt make any difference if your abs are in good condition or not, if there's fat on top, you get the spare tyre.

And most of us will be left with at least a small one. Because there will no doubt be some excess skin.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
