Hello Simon.. Thanks for the response.. I have just gotten my research done and happy to make the decision to move forward with the banding procedure. I have just made an appointment with Dr. Chua in Milwaukee.. Not sure what to expect next. So.. I was hoping to find someone that could help me. I have books done more on line information sites, and yet I don't know what to expect at this appointment. I am one that likes to be prepared and kind of know what will happen.. So any insite you can offer I am all ears. Not sure where you are having the procedure, but I assume it is not Milwaukee.

So you will be official in two weeks.. how long has it been since your initial visit? Hope to hear from you more as you continue and I begin.. I am sooo excited.. I feel good about the decision and the hope for the future..:tt1:

Congratulations on your decision to get the lap band. I'm a 5-year veteran and can tell you it was the best thing I ever did!! Good luck!!

MacPa90 -

I have to admit I am getting very nervous about the surgery and what it will mean to my lifestyle. I have my meeting with the doctor, exercise trainer and nutritionist today. I am not looking forward to the next 2 weeks on the liquid diet stage but I know it's necessary. I too have spent a lot of time researching lapband to know as much as I can before I do this. I'm having it done by Dr. Marc Erickson, of Fort Atkinson. Good luck on your journey. Simon

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
