Not losing during liquid phase....

Recommended Posts

I'm a week out and I just assumed that I would drop some weight during the liquid phase.

I'm on my second week of Clear liquids and I haven't lost anything in five days.

I'm trying not to panic and I know I have to have patience. Just wondering if this is normal or what I should be doing.

Any help??

How much liquid are you taking in? During the clear liquid phase I took in very few calories because nothing was interesting to me. I had only Water, low cal Jello, and fruit ices. This was bad though because I got very light headed and my memory was totally absent!

I would love to add more calories but am not sure how to do it since I"m living on broth, SF Jello and Gatorade. I am drinking Isopure as well but none of them are a high calorie item.

thanks for your responses.

Ruthie, this liquid phase after surgery is for healing only and not weight loss, any wieght loss during the pre-fill stage is a bonus. Your band has no Fluid in it and the band works best when there is Fluid in it, so do not panic, you are NOT doing anything wrong :)

Do not weigh yourself everyday, that will help. Obsessing about the weight loss only slowed me down and I got discouraged. Now I weigh once a week and that is it!

I'M NOT BANDED BUT I HEARD...GATORADE WILL FILL YOU FULL OF UNWANTED CALORIES...IM NOT SURE BUT YOU THINK OF GETTING RID OF THE GATORADE...

I t depends on what you are consuming if it is juice, gatorade popsicles those have a higher calories and you have a higher calorie count maybe after a couple days you will lose it might be your body trying to hold onto the weight because it is starving mode

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
