feeling miserable ... got banded on 6/28/2008 , lost around thirty pounds .. did not get a fill but really cant eat much ..around 20 -30 gms (around 1 oz ) and I am done and I keep on feeling heavy for a long time ... so cant manage to take enough calories ... one lapband site say that one has to sit errect during meals ... is it so ? for how long should I sit errect after a meal and well is there a way to reduce restriction of an unfilled band

Personally I like to move around after eating, especially if I feel bloated. You definietely should not lay down too soon after eating.

I assume you are eating slowly, taking small bites etc.

Not to get too personal but have you been regular? Could the discomfort be from Constipation or maybe gas?

30 pounds is good weight loss. Are you saying you want to be able to eat more? If so, you could try drinking while you eat to wash the food down.

Try drinking a warm beverage like tea or coffee 15 min. before eating. This opens the band up a little.

You must start getting more food in you. I would feel awful too if that is all I could eat. You may want to call and make sure your surgeon didn't give you a fill when the band was placed. It seems that quite a few surgeons do that.

I felt that way after my second fill. DH was getting worried, but I was enjoying the weight loss kick! I found that going back on liquids for 2-3 days helped with the irritation. Then, I started to drink hot tea before I ate anything -- and if something got stuck, I'd have a tiny little bit more of the tea. I dropped a few pounds and then now I am starting to feel like I'm not too tight and have good restriction, so I'm happy. I told myself that if it kept up too much, I'd go back for a slight unfill.

Just be careful to get enough nutrition in, esp. Protein, and be sure to be getting your fluids so you don't get dehydrated. When in doubt, call your surgeon.

Hi there! I am totally jealous of you. I know that sounds awful since you are suffering. What I am saying is" I wish i had some restriction"! I was hoping that I had more help post op from the surgery. I understand after the fill I will have some restriction but right now , I have none. I am only losing because of self control and its been really hard. I am only on my third week but I am pretty sure I can eat almost anything. Other ppl have had a hard time with breads and things even before a fill and I am almost positive that I can eat everything. The only thing stopping me is sheer fear that I could damage the band and cause a problem.

If you are uncomfortable talk to your doctor and be strong and express your concern. Good luck. Keep up the great weight loss.

i feel exactly as you do. I had my surgery on Aug. 5 and have not had a fill yet. I am staying on this diet because of pure fear if I go off. I would love to chat with you more. Please contact me thanks

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
