Find Doctor in LI Suffolk in Network

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I need to find a doctor for Lap Band. I want or would like to find one in my United Health Care - Choice Plus plan. Does anyone know of a Doctor in Charles Hospital or John T Mather Memorial Hospital?

They have to be In Network in ordeer to be covered.

Help please.

I live in Suffolk county but chose to go to Dr. Geiss in Syosset. I had an amazing experience and he comes highly recommended.

I wasn't able to find too many physicians in Suffolk county that do this exclusively or has a done a large volume of these.

Good Luck!

st. charles and mather is usually done by dr. ahmed, but I don't think he takes any insurance as an in network. I have interview app. 3 surgeons and am going with dr. geiss, it is a hike from the mather/St. Charles area but he is extrememly experienced and worth the drive.

Good Luck on your journey.

I'm doing really well. I lucked out and didn't have gas pains. It was an easy recovery for me. I have lost 7 pounds since surgery, but I hope to make that move more now that I'm cleared to go back to the gym.

With Dr. Geiss you can tell that both he and his entire staff LOVE what they do, and really like to help people. His office is always busy, but I get in/out of there pretty easily, since I usually book early appts.

Good Luck. I know how we all want this quick, but when picking out a surgeon its best to take your time and make sure you are comfortable.

Dr. Geiss has an open support/introduction group on the first Tuesdays of the month at the North Ritz. Its across from Syosset Hospital, if memory serves me right. Its a great meeting, both informative and inspirational.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
