Feelin' Good and Lookin' Fine!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

It's great to read so many success stories. I can't say enough positive things about having this done. I'm healthier and happier and have no regrets.

I feel great now. I still have weight to lose but my confidence in my ability to do so is so high. I used to go on diets all the time but in the back of my mind I knew I would fail. This time, I won’t fail… and with losing 50 pounds so far I’m well on my way to success.

I’m getting a lot of comments from people now on how good I look. I finally decided to buy clothes that actually fit me instead of a bunch of baggy clothes with flower prints on them and the great comments keep coming! icon_smile.gif It’s a nice feeling.

The other great benefit is how much better I feel. My back and knees don’t hurt like they used to and I don’t have nearly the stomach pains that I would constantly get.

It's all thumbs up for me and I wouldn't change a thing.

Ruth

Thank you for sharing your story. I should be getting my surgery date on Tuesday (Sept. 16) and hope it will be within a week or so. I have been hoping to find more positive stories. I read a lot of whining and negativism and I can do without that. I will save your story to read over and over.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery and thank you for the nice reply.

The key for me has been my attitude about it. I'm not saying there hasn't been some rough points but in order for it to really work you must change your attitude about food and eating habits. The band is just a tool, it is not a magic wand. You have to work at to make it successful but the band definitely helps.

Good luck to you! Let me know how it goes.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
