trying not to get discouraged

Recommended Posts

Hi I was wondering if anyone out there has had problems healing. I had a terrible reaction to the shot of blood thinner that I got right before my surgery. Since then, I have been black and blue and even expelling some blood at times. One week after surgery (Aug. 5) I had to get my insicion drained in the Dr's office (not a pleasant experience to say the least). Everytime I go to get it checked the Drs. assure me that it is just taking a while for me to heal. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm afraid that I will not be able to get my first scheduled fill on Sept. 15, because I will not be fully healed. My husband thinks I should ask to have an ultrasound to make sure everything is ok. Any suggestions? I would feel so much better if I heard from people who have had similar problems. Thanks

I am on the same path as you. I had surgery on August 14 and my sites all started draining. IT is painful and I'm sick of it. I was scheduled to have a fill today but could not due to the infection. I'm a mess but still positive. I can't wait to start loosing the weight.

I had the same problem with one of my sites (the one under my left breast) It was open for 3 1/2 weeks after surgery. I thought it was my port site at the time...luckily it wasnt)

It had finally started to heal a bit (though still a gaping wound) I had to have emergency surgery on a different problem (an abcess in my belly due to the hernia surgery I had at the same time as my band) The surgeon went in to that open wound, and made it much larger. It was about a half inch wide when I went in, and 2 inches when I came out of surgery!!!

It took another 3 weeks or so to heal.

Hoping yours heals soon.

thank you for your concern

I am feeling fine although I am very interested to know how it feels to be not able to "eat another bite" because you are sooooo full. My fill had to be rescheduled for the beginning of October because of my problem. I recently saw the Dr., and he didn't seem concerned at all. He said I was healing fine. I have to try to take his word for it because he has been doing these surgery's for 30 years. I did get upset when he said that he had never had this problem before (lucky me).

I am down 26 lbs (sticking to the diet plan regardless)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
