I gained weight!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well, you can sure keep working on losing weight, that's totally up to you. I was in desperate need of a fill before I got pregnant, so it actually works out that I may not end up needed an unfill. But that wasn't planned. BTW, I remember you from waaaaayyyy back in 2006. We banded the same month!

I have very sudden weight gains, which is the same way I lose. Nothing, nothing, nothing... 6 lbs. Nothing, nothing, nothing... 9 lbs. Even now that I'm comfortably into my 3rd trimester a lot of my gain fluctuates around Fluid. I may go up 15 lbs in two weeks, and hold it for a month, and then drop 12 of them. Despite the fluctuating, the scale is undoubtedly also climbing up and I have gained weight, though not the ridiculous amount I would have gained had I not been banded.

Congrats to all you moms-to-be (or repeaters!). I was on Weight Watchers when I got pregnant 16 years ago. I had a high-risk pregnancy (37-year-old first-time mom) and gestational diabetes so I really had to watch what I ate and also had to take a couple of insulin shots a day. I quit WW and followed the diet the doctor gave me, which was similar to the WW plan but had a few more exchanges. It was tough, but when I left the hospital after giving birth, I was down 40 pounds! So it's possible to not gain a lot of weight when you're pregnant, if you're seeing your doctor regularly.

May all of your babies be as sweet as mine!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
