Hey all - I just want to say howdy and THANK YOU for your sharing and updates, it gives me constant hope and inspiration and confirmation that I am on the right path.

Seeing folks with lower BMIs and less weight to lose has been frustrating. I have yo-yo'd up and down a few times but feel that the large amount of weight that I have to lose is pretty much impossible - until I learned about LB!!! And now knowing there's a group for people of my size on this journey, I feel even better. Yes, it took me a while to figure out that this group was here, but hey... I'm just special sometimes I guess.

In any case, I want to say "Hi!!!" You will be hearing from me now and again for sure, as I get closer to surgery and afterward of course. Congrats to all that have had such great success, I can't wait til it's me telling those stories!

Hey!? You're a Texans fan living in California!? I'm in Houston...GO Texans!

I was/am a low BMI patient....weighed 215 at surgery and still thing this is the best thing I ever did for my weight problem. I wish it had been available to me 20 years ago! Even though I am struggling with these last 20-30 pounds I take relief in knowing that I don't weigh 250+ which I surely would have by now if I had not had the surgery.

Best of luck on your journey!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
