101 gone!!!

Recommended Posts

 I finally reached my first big goal, I'm down 101 pounds. I'm so excited. I wanted to hit this by my 6 month anniversary but missed it by a week and a half. Not too depressed about that cause I'm so happy to have made it. This 101 is since my first doctor's appointment about a year ago. I lost 24 pounds on the 6-month diet for insurance and put 6 of that back on at Christmas. Then I lost 16 on the 2 week pre-op. The other 67 has been thanks to the band and me. Yay! Gonna Celebrate a bit and while I do that work on my next goal - the halfway mark. That's only 4 pounds away. Gah, I so excited.

Help me think of something nice to do for myself please. I'm supposed to get the sweet set of pots and pans that I dying for but money is still a bit tight. I'm sure I'll get them but it will probably be a combination of reaching goal, birthday and Christmas. My mother wants to buy me new clothes but I just don't want to spend money on that when I know I'll be losing more soon. Any fun ideas?

Woohoo!! WTG Ezma!! How exciting!

What about a spa day or manicure/pedicure, something like that to pamper yourself? I agree about the clothes. I wouldn't want to spend a lot on clothes right now. Maybe one nice outfit that makes you feel great.

You're AWESOME!!!! Wow! Thank you for being on this board and inspiring us. If you're mom's buying, let her buy you new clothes. It will feel great to get something new and be sure to get it in a color other than black.

I'm thinking about the pamper stuff - facial, pedicure, manicure. But I'm also thinking about getting the roaster pan that goes with my soon to be new cookware. A few cheap clothes are okay, I guess. I'm just not to the point where I'm excited about them yet. When I get there - look out! I'm also thinking about just a nice night out with the hubby - dinner and movies, some wine. I don't want to reward myself with food but it's really tempting as a splurge. Would feel nice to try something fancy that I've always wanted to try and I could still be healthy about it. I don't know. Heck, planning and wishing is half the fun.

Great job.. I wouldn't spend money on clothes unless they were really in expensive. With a 100Ilb lost, you definetly can't fit anything that you already had.

I would rather spend money on myself, pamper treatment, change of hair color, different hair cut, something drastic to Celebrate something drastic:thumbup:

Ezma:

What a great accomplishment! Congratulations.

If your Mom wants to buy you new clothes, why not ask her if you could have them in the form of a gift certificate that you can use now or later. I bought mostly used clothes while on the way down. Second hand, clean after washing, and they're new to me.

Best wishes for your continued success!

Sue

So I've had a wonderful weekend so far. Yesterday my mom gave me a beautiful flower arrangement to Celebrate. And this morning my hubby took me off to a secret appointment. It ended up being a haircut at a fancy salon. Then I went shopping for cookbooks and got lunch from this delicious jamaican place. Came home and did a foot spa thing and I'll finish the pedicure tomorrow. My family really made me feel special and it was a fantastic way to celebrate the loss of pounds and finding life. Thank you all too. You're a big part of my support system.

It was the fill that finally broke my plateau. My calories are way down again. And I may actually be at my sweet spot. It's been almost two weeks and I still have decent restriction. I have some room left but this spot seems to be working really well for now. I have also kicked my exercise up from about 20 minutes a day to 30 minutes. Got my fingers crossed that yours breaks soon too.

Yay Gibson!!! I've missed you so much. And I can't wait for you to get some good restriction. I has to happen even if he is a super conservative putz, even he will eventually get enough in your band and you will finally have some help on this difficult journey. Pop in more often, pretty please with a cherry on top.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
