I am getting worried. I took milk of magnesia on Sunday night and have had diarrhea since. It's not a lot (since I am hardly drinking anything) but I am getting worried. My lips are chapped now (dehydration) and I don't know what to do.

I had the same issue a few weeks out from banding. I was able to take something over the counter to combat it. It was because of dietary changes but went away.

I am 3 days post op and I have had diarrhea all day today. I was starting to get worried. Sounds like I am not the only one to have it post op.

srknepler has some good advice. liquid Imodium should fix the problem right away. Be conservative with the Milk of Magnesia, it's pretty potent stuff.

Fiber caplets should help as well.

Imediately following my surgery I had a problem with diahrea as well, and I finally realized that when all you're taking in is liquid, that is pretty much all that comes out!

Best of luck.

I had diarrhea for a week. I attributed it to the fact that I was only consuming liquids. I didn't take anything for it. Call the dr and see what they say. Try to drink as much as you are allowed to replenish the fluids.

From reading other posts I thought that the diarrhea was normal. Then I realized that I was reacting to the whey Protein. Stopped the whey and most milk products and I was back to normal in two days. Now I only have milk if I have the opposite problem.

Don't let yourself get dehydrated. You could end up in the hospital.

Good Luck

I just logged on to post about this exact problem. I got banded on Tuesday and have had diarrhea since. I mean diarrhea in the real since, pure liquid. I don't think i am taking in as much as is coming out, I just dont think I can, I have been feeling headachy and unwell and run down etc, I know its from all the diarrhea. I am glad to see its normal though, I was begining to think there was something wrong.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
