Hello, I'm new here and was banded on Tuesday morning by Dr. Felts. It was a good experience but I'm a little sore and have headaches due to not being able to eat much. It has been better this morning and I believe I'm on the uphill swing of things now. I'm looking forward to corresponding with everyone on this forum and getting any tips I can.

Donna

Hi. I'm new to this. Did you use Dr. Felts with True Results in Richardson? I'm currently going through the process for my insurance and think I'll have the surgery in early Oct. How did you like Dr. Felts? I'm very curious about it all. Anything you are willing to share I would appreciate.

Hi. I'm new to this. Did you use Dr. Felts with True Results in Richardson? I'm currently going through the process for my insurance and think I'll have the surgery in early Oct. How did you like Dr. Felts? I'm very curious about it all. Anything you are willing to share I would appreciate.

Hi Loribeth, I did use Dr. Felts with True Results in Richardson. I was a cash pay patient so my process was pretty quick. I went in to speak with a nurse practitioner the first part of August and it was decided that I need to have the normal blood work but also an EKG and a stress test before I could go forward. So I had the blood work and EKG with my regular doctor and the stress test was done with True Results on Thursday, the 21st, and I had surgery the next Tuesday, the 26th of August.

Monday before the surgery I, along with about 5 others, met at Dr. Felts office for a consult. This involved a former patient visiting with us and handing out papers for us all to go over together. She explained that she has lost 93 lbs. and no longer has any saline solution in her band now and has adapted well. We went over all the paperwork which told us about the diet afterwards, the golden rules and what to do the night before and right after surgery.

Afterwards Dr. Felts met with us one-on-one. He had me get up on the table and showed me where the port would go and where all the incisions would be made. He was very reassuring to me about the EKG and stress test and told me that with my health history there would be no problem at all. I really did like him and found him to be very informative. He told me that he has performed over 740 something surgeries and has only had to close up, and not finish, three of them due to liver size.

The day of surgery I arrived at 7:15 and filled out more paperwork. The secretary and nurses were very nice and made me feel comfortable. Dr. Felts came by and asked me if I was ready and said he would see me in the OR. After I drank the "margarita mix" I don't remember much up until right before I went home.

Overall it was a good experience for me. I was sort of out of it the whole first day and had headaches up until this morning. After I had my first cup of coffee since the surgery, this morning, the headache went away. I didn't know if it was the lack of caffiene or lack of food giving me the headache.

If there is anything else you need to know don't hesitate to ask.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
