ages 13-14+? I'm having so much trouble finding one, but my mom wants to find at least one or two before we decide to try out Dr.Kuri in Tijuana. Also, what did it take for your insurance to cover you? Not taking age into consideration for the insurance question. Thanks!

P.S:Do you know if some who wont do the complete surgery will do fills on minors, and Kaiser surgeons do fills also, right?

I know this prolly isnt what you want to hear but i personally think you shoudl wait. here are my VALID why you should wait.

1. Not all girls are nessicarily done growing at 13-14 and your body is going to go thru alot of adjustments if you get teh band.

2. Getting the band is a realy EMOTIONAL undertaking. You need to be mentally ready for this, its not like it can be taken off easily if you are tired fo it. You may get looked dow on by your peers if you tell them.

3. Make sure you have tried all the options for loosing weight before surgery. Ive have been over weight since i was around your age and had tried all the diets out there but my biiggest problem would be i would yo-yo. I also have been diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and teh band was a weightloss option taht is helping save my health.

So please think this over carefully before you do it. Talk to the doctors out there. I went to Dr. Kirshembaum in denver nad if i remeber right you had to be at least 18 ( i had surgery 3 days after my birthday) and goodluck

Ok Well where do i start!! I want u to do this first before u even think about getting this surgery ok!! Im 15 years of age and just got the surgery 3 weeks ago and have lost 26 pounds.!! It is defintall not easy though!!! First since u are still younge try some diet and exercise for a while and if not then u can start thinkinga bout this surgery!!!

In Valencia there is a place called Top Surgeons!!! The surgeon is named Shahram Salimitari!! He is a great man!! He will do it to kids under certain circumstances!! U have to be in a horrible weight and u have to act very mature!!! If he feels u are mature enough he will guide u through everything!! But if u want to meet him he meets at the place in valencia on certain days for free to talk to anyone interested and does a little ceminar!! Defintally try it out!!! Give them a call the website is www.topsurgeons.com!!! But the actual surgery will take place in beverly hills ok hope i helped!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
