I am back home

Recommended Posts

Surgery went great. I had a little chest pain from the gas, but that is starting to go away. I hope my stomach pain starts to go away soon also. That is the worst part. I have 5 cuts and no stiches just some clear tape. I thought that was a little strange. I started on Clear Liquids today and I am able to keep those down, so that is great. I am really looking forward to the full liquids.< /p>

Congratulations on your successful surgery!

I am so glad that it went so well for you. My surgery is in 2 days and I hope for the same.

Tell me, how is it with only drinking the clear liquids right after surgery? Are you starving or in too much pain to think about that?

No I am not starving at all. I am not sure if it is the band or if it is the pain meds. I get full from the little bit of broth and Jello I do eat though. I catch myself thinking about fatty foods alot, but it is not worth it!!

Amanda, congrats and welcome to bandland. Make sure you take your pain meds as needed - you don't have to be a hero! Keep sipping and moving and you will feel great in no time at all!

It is amazing how quickly you are up and moving after this surgery!

I am back from surgery (actually got home yesterday but in too much pain to get online). I have struggled but hopefully every day will get a little bit better.

I had a sensitivity to the morphine drip that they gave me right after surgery which made me so nauseous that I could not even stand! Then they switched me which made things better so I didnt get enough walking in at the hospital.

To top that off, they sent me home with percocet and I discovered this morning that I have a sensitivity to that as well! The nausea is unbearable! Because of that I have not been able to eat as much of the protein/liquids that I should and the doc threatened to put me back in the hospital if I couldnt keep anything down! So I stopped taking the percocet and have slowly been able to eat again, but it is rough.

Here's to a better tomorrow!

Congrats Amanda!! It is great to hear people doing well do you still have the stomach pain (is it at the port site??)

And silverband, I hope you are doing better soon! I didn't have Morphine at the hospital due to the reaction I know I have to it and I don't think that helped much with the moving around either.

I have started feeling better every day but do get some pain which the panadol usually keeps on top of! Just don't rush yourself but try to walk as much as possible.

:)

What a difference a day makes!

I feel so much better today! No painkillers (besides tylenol) and no nausea!

I feel up to walking and I have been getting in all of my fluids/proteins!

Things are looking up! Every day gets better from here!

Glad you are feeling better Silverband!! I was and overdid it by going to the shopping centre and walking a bit too much! Take it easy and don't overdo it!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
