I'm two weeks post op and have been feeling pretty good the last few days. Most of the pregnant look from the swelling is gone, I've only lost 2 pounds but from what I read here that's not unusual. I've been good on my diet, haven't eaten anything I shouldn't.

Yesterday I was up a pound and thought it odd, then later in the day I noticed a bulge in the side of my belly, just below my ribs and just above my port incision. It was small but firm and now it's probably the size of a grapefruit but more oblong than round, firm but not hard, and not painful. It sticks out enough that it's visible. I'm not constipated, I'm more gassy than usual but I've been that way since surgery. I progressed to soft foods yesterday and had a small portion of a hamburger patty cooked very soft and chewed to a pulp and had no problems when I ate it. Because of this swelling(?) I decided to go back to mushies just in case and I'm having no problem eating or drinking. I actually noticed it before I ate the hamburger but it has gotten larger over the last day so it doesn't seem related. I feel silly calling my doctor when I feel fine, but wanted to post to see if this sounded familiar to anybody.

You're never silly calling your doctor! You may just be feeling the actual port under the skin, or you may have an issue. Never hurts to ask, that's what you pay them for!

Call your doc NOW PLease! It could be nothing; it could be something, it could be something that needs immediate attention!

You shouldn't be swelling like that!

When I say the size of a grapefruit I mean it feels like that size inside, it doesn't stick out that far, just realized that sounded alarming hehe.

I'm wondering if as the general abdominal swelling is going down this is just the swelling in my actual stomach becoming more noticable?

I think I will call him just to be sure, but I still feel silly.

Someone on here mentioned the port is actual above or below incision, not exactly under, but it wouldn't be the size of a grapefruit. Call, better safe than sorry.

I called and since I have my post op appointment on thursday he said not to worry about coming in before that unless I develop pain or nausea or other symptoms. It hasn't gotten any bigger since this morning and I'm still able to drink Soup just fine so I think I'm ok. I'll post after I see him.

Just posting a follow up, I saw my surgeon yesterday and he said that this bulge is Fluid accumulation around where he tunneled through the muscle to place the port. He said it doesn't happen to everybody but it does show up fairly often and it's nothing to worry about unless it shows signs of being infected or gets painful. He said it will slowly reabsorb over the next couple weeks.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
