Time released fill

Recommended Posts

No, I don't think there is such a thing....But! when I get a fill, I don't feel the effect for quite some time (3-5 weeks later). I am now at 6 weeks since my last fill and I am so tight I can't stand it. I think it is so wierd to feel the tightness of the band so much later than when I had the fill. Does anyone have the same problem? If so, had you spoken with the doctor about it and ask him/her why this happens? Would love to know if anyone out there has experienced the same thing.

Thanks.

Teresa

I found the following on Texas Lap Band Talk at this link:

Texas Lap Band Talk: Lap Band fills.

There is also a phenomenon we see fairly often, but really can’t explain well. Some people will have a delay in the “tightness” of a fill by as much as two weeks. This is why we won’t fill one day and then fill again three days later. Because there is sometimes a lag in the perception of hunger after a fill (and remember: it’s hunger control we’re aiming for, not bulimia!), we don’t want to end up over-filling patients, especially if they live out of town. Spitting into a cup is just not fun. You're meant to have gradual weight loss with the Lap Band from eating less. You're not meant to be on a liquid diet or pureed food diet. We want to eat more or less a regular diet, just eat a smaller amount of food so that you can lose weight.

I just posted the same problem on my Merry Losers thread. I got a very small fill 4 weeks ago. .2 cc's and was at my "sweet spot" up until this weekend. Then WHAMMMM...too tight. I had to sleep in the recliner last night. Felt like I was drowning. Reflux and heartburn like I've never felt before. My PA took out all the fill to let me heal for a week or so. Not sure why this happened.

I don't buy this delayed fill idea. I have had 5 fills as has my daughter. I think Fluid flucuation in our body is what makes it tight or loose as does any type of irritation to the band area such as not chewing well enough , which can really hurt as we all well know, or having to pb ,or when we get a fill, they can all cause swelling. We have x amount of filling in the band, granted it may leak out but I do not believe it magicaly gets fuller. My daughter is a little on the full side and every day is different some days she is loose and some days she's really tight. Just some thoughts I have. Lizzieann

The (substitute) surgeon didn't buy that either. I don't know what I can say, that's the way it is...

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
