OK, I got the date, October 14. I'm so happy and nervous I feel numb. It's as if I was tossed into a tornado. What do I do next, what do I need, am I really ready, do I have the commitment necessary for this? Well, it's MyTurn to find out. I'm praying that this is not just my want but God's will. I hope I only have good things to report in the future and if things get tough you know I'll be here banging on the door asking for strength and answers!

Well I know how you feel, I just got my date last week, I am October 7 so we can go on this journey together!! I am feeling a little overwhelmed now but I am hoping that this will be a positive journey and that I have finally found something that will work for me. I am feel positive then I start to get nervous thinking of all the other times I have started out strong feeling positive and then hit a wall. I think we just need to continue to support each other and help each other through the struggles and we will get through to the other side of this. Good luck on the 14th!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
