Did Your Dr. Tell U To Eat Even If You Aren't Hungry?

Recommended Posts

Let's just say you aren't hungry for Breakfast, do you skip it?

Do you eat even if you don't want it? Do we eat anyways for nutritional reasons?

TIA

Sandra

My doctor said if I'm not hungry don't eat.....I ask if I could skip meals... and he repeated if you are not hungry don't eat.............. I should add I haven't had that problem.

For the first 4 weeks, my doctor told me to force myself to eat and drink if I had to because I wouldn't heal properly without the hydration and the nutrition.

After those 4 weeks, I was told to keep my calorie minimum at 800 and to never skip meals because it means that I a) will eat something very high in calories later because I will eventually be really hungry, or  will overeat or eat past the band because I will eventually be really hungry. Both of these defeat the purpose of the band by not teaching us to make better food choices, and not working with the limits that the band is intended for. He said that I should start feeling hunger by the end of those 4 weeks.

My doctor and nurse specialist want us to eat. If you are too tight in the morning you could have a Protein Drink, but other wise you should be eating and making sure you get your Protein in but keeping it 1000-1200 cal/day and 6-8 glasses of Water a day.

I normally never ate breakfast unless we went out for it. Now I eat in the morning. I am in my 3rd week, and having 3 shakes. One morning before breakfast , one before lunch and one before dinner. I wait 30 minutes then eat my regular meals.

I have my cottage cheese and fruit for breakfast. I can have thinned out wheat hot Cereal with skim milk and splenda. Good for breakfast. Then have my lunch of thinned out mashed potatoes. dinner I think I'll have pureed butternut squash with some ricotta cheese. I don't start mushy stuff for another 2 weeks. Not till week 5.

For a snack only approved foods. So either Jello, or sugar free pudding cup or applesauce cup (little servings) before bed. Only one. Then I can usually sleep well and not be wanting something later. I really am not very hungry but force myself to do this so in time I won't overeat. While I am healing need nutrition.

My doctor told me to:

1. Eat every 3-4 waking hours.

2. Make nutritious choices.

3. Always eat the protien first.

He said you never want to get hungry, because that is the sign that tells your body it is not getting enough food, so it goes into hybernation mode & stores for later. My body was in hybernation mode for 3 years. That is how I ended up here.

I follow these rules & it works for me.

Right I seem to eat something every 3-4 hours now and I am not hungry. Since being Type II diabetic I should and will eat 6 small meals a day.

I will space out my meals and that should keep me from being hungry.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
