!st day of mushy foods.....HELP!

Recommended Posts

:confused2:Today was my first day of mushy foods and things have not gone well. I get this feeling about 2 1/2 hours after I eat that something is stuckk or I get real clammy and then have diarrhea, sorry:( Has anyone felt like this? Then when I get the feeling something is stuck, I start coughing and feel like I am going to vomit and my food is stuck in the middle of my throat. Please HELP! Anyone else feel this way? I was banded last thursday, 8/14/08. The acid that comes up when I am coughing burns my throat!!!!

you need to eat slow and take very small bites and chew alot before you swallow it.

good luck, hope you feel better!!!

Sounds like clumping. Are you eating to fast or to much and are you eating what was reccomended? I was told that if you eat to much or to fast and not what you are suppose to this is what will happen. I hope you get to feeling better.

I've been on LBT a long time and have been banded for 15 months myself. I've never heard of this reaction. Please call your doctor on Monday and in the meantime, I think I'd stay on liquids.< /p>

I was also banded on Aug. 14. Today was my first day of thick liquids then next Friday I can start mushy foods.

Do you think the food was too thick or chunky for you? Maybe you should eat some softer things for a few days.

Good luck! and feel better soon!

I agree with Terry, I would go back to liquids and try again later. You might even want to contact your doc before you try again.

I hope you get to feeling better, that sounds like no fun at all!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
