Hello, I'm new to this chat room thing and to this site in particular. I am considering the Lap Band procedure and I would like to hear from some of you who have recently had this done. I'm kinda nervous about going so long on just liquids after the surgery.

Why are you nervous about that specifically? I'm not banded but I had the surgery 8/11 and my liver was still too fatty, so I'm doing liquids (and 3 oz of Protein ... chicken, turkey or fish) until 8/29, then will have 2 weeks of liquids. Maybe I can help explain or allay your fears?

Welcome to the site! I wouldn't call the liquid stage easy, but it is certainly doable! While you are in it, you don't feel like you will ever be able to eat again, but once you are past it, you can't remember why it was so hard. The best thing you can do is get a really good Liquid Protein supplement. The Protein is necessary for your healing, and it also helps keep your energy up during the liquid phase. I used the New Whey Protein bullets mixed with crystal light. I don't care for the thick Protein Shakes, so the bullets saved me.

If you have any questions, just ask! I am so happy I got the band.

I was banded on the 5th of this month. The liquid diet was not fun. But worth it. My liver was small and the surgery went really well. I am still not on solid foods, but looking forward to tuesday when I can start. I am anxious to get this journey rolling!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
