Almost 3 weeks!

Recommended Posts

I cannot believe tomorrow it will be 3 weeks since my band! It seemed like forever to get to the surgery.

The gas pains are still lurking, but nothing like what they were. I no longer need the heating pad, just occasional tylenol.

I am still on the mushy phase, but will switch fully to soft next week. I have not had really any cravings, which I am thankful for. I am up to between 1/4 and 1/2 cup per serving. For a while there, I was lucky to get the 1/4. Yesterday, I got about 500 calories which is the most I have had since the surgery. I am drinking Water better too.

I am losing weight pretty fast, but I am sure will slow down soon as I can now eat a bit more. I am starting to get the "head" hungry feeling. I was able to avoid it last night when after I ate a bit more than 1/4 cup, am I full or did I just like the taste of it? I decided it was the taste. I put the rest away and thought if I really wanted it, I would heat it up in 15 minutes. Guess what, I did not want it later! I guess I made it over 1 hurdle, 10 million more to go!!

I have a 15 cc band in and they put in 2cc during the surgery. I go for a fill, if needed, on the 12th of Sept. I may need one the way I am going today.

For those of you are preparing to get the band, take care and good luck. Those of you who have the band, CONGRATULATIONS!

Good job on beating your head hunger!!!! It's great that you are beginning to tell the difference between true hunger and head hunger. Good for you for getting over that hurdle!!!! I'm glad to hear after three weeks all is going well. Keep up the good work.

Hey,

I'm on my 3rd week as well. I had my surgery on 8/4/08. But I was told I can start my mechanical soft foods this week and next week. I'm also scheduled for my first fill 9/12/08. During that week I was told to eat regular food. I get full fast but there is not enough restriction. I get so hungry. I havn't lost anymore weight since the 12lbs I lost the first week:glare: Oh well!

wow, it sounds like you are doing really well! I am on my 12th day post-op and am also keeping it to liquids only. Somedays I can barely get the 500 cal. into me...but I know this will change.

Thanks for sharing your success.

thanks for the notes! I am very happy so far. I think the hardest part is the head hunger!

I have really no hunger, just a few cravings that I keep in check. Most food just doesn't taste good now. I find the 3 Protein shakes that I am still on really do keep that hunger away. For meals, it's yogurt, Soup or cottage cheese and pureed fruit.< /p>

I can tell the difference between really hungry and the "head hunger" now. My doctor says to stay in the diet and if I have real hunger between the "meals" just have a bit of the approved food. It works, a small bit of yogurt (60 calories) works. Light and Fit by Dannon is the best I have found.

Good luck everyone, Hey I fit into my size 18 jeans that I haven't worn for 2 years.

I am in the same boat. I was banded on the 4th and plataued this week. I dropped 20 since the original pre op and then only 1 pound last week. Was kinda a downer. I understand until I get my first fill then I probably won't be loosing too much more. It is wierd thinking it has almost been a month already though!

Oh don't get me wrong I am happy about that. It just seemed to come to a screeching halt last week.

I made my fill appointment today. It is later than I would have liked, but it is exactly on the 6 week mark. And like you, I can't wait to get the go ahead to start exercising a little. I could then ride a bike to work before it starts raining. :smile2:

I found that chicken of the sea has these little tuna cans...only 80 calories and packed with 18g of Protein...so I tried that out today. YUM. I also had some stew but puree it. You are right it will be awesome once we get to the real food stage.

 Good job on almost a month!!!!

I hear you I screeched to a halt on my preop this week for a few days! Then today they went down 200grams. Can't complain though to date I have lost a total of 10 kilos (~22 pounds) about 7.6kilos (16.72pounds) on the preop :crying:

And I keep telling myself that this will be a journey of ups and downs and that I shouldn't be discouraged or feel crap when stuff happens and my head moves into the right frame of mind! :wink2:

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
