Yeah I am home and banded!

Well went in on Monday the 18th as scheduled at 10am... But had to wait around until 1:30 before I was brought in to the coldest room I have ever been in... The O. R. was not what I expected and when I first got rolled in my surgeon was on the phone talking to one of his patients regarding stomach pain. Once he hung up the phone I was put right out... Then next thing I knew I was done and in the recovery room... I have to say I have been blessed I really don't feel much gas pain... I do feel like I have done 5000 stomach crunches!!!! Getting up and down from a sitting position is not easy and oh laying down... damn!!! I had to stay in the hospital over night and was on a morphine drip... every two hours the nurses would wake me and take me for a walk around the unit at least 3 times... Then as long as I was up I attempted to pee... at first that did not happen... nurse said that is normal because of the morphine. The second time they woke me I was able to finally pee... which actually made me feel better. The next morning on Tuesday I had to have a X-ray done with a nasty tasting drink. They took pictures to make sure the band was in the right place and then with the drink the watched it go down to make sure the band did not move. By the time I was all done it was almost lunch time. I got my first mushy tray of food... pureed tuna fish and apple sauce. Wow was that strange eating mushy stuff... I could only eat about 3 spoon fulls and then I was done... could feel the full feeling...Had to wait 30 minutes before I started to take liquids... My doctor does not let you leave the hospital until you eat your 2nd mushy meal... which came at 5pm so I was released at 6:30...

So happy it is over and happy to be home... eating no fat cottage cheese now... again only ate about 3 spoon fulls and I am done...

I am also very itchy... but was told that was part of the healing process...

Just so happy to say it is done...

Good luck to everyone!!!!

Jo Ann

Very sore today... feel like I did 5000 cruches... Just took a pain pill... had to break it in to 4 small pieces and try to swallow it with small sips of Water... not the easiest thing to do... but I did it. Holding a pillow agaist the port area does help when moving around...

worst part so far was sitting on the toilet and then getting up... OUCH!!!!

Congrats!

I had my surgery on Aug 11th and the first few days were painful. Its kind of like making up for all o f those crunches I failed to do before hand. But each day has gotten better and now I am 1 week and 1 day out of surgery and I feel great. Tomorrow I go back to work! Just remember to take one day at a time. I also suggest chrushing up those pain pills. They taste horrible but go down easier and work just the same.Ask your doctor about that alternative.

Good luck!

Think I spoke to soon when I said I did not have gas pain... YUCK...:) my shoulders are starting to hurt... I took a gasX strip... hopefully that will help...

I am having a hard time gettng all the fluids in... I have to have 64 oz and at least 40-60 grams of Protein...

so far had 15 oz of liquid and 21 grams of that was protein...

Had apple sauce for lunch ... ate about 2 heaping teaspoons full and I had enough... ugh!!

Will take my second pain pill once I can have more liquid.. which is about 15 minutes from now...

Well, my surgery was Aug 21st and I came home 22nd (Fri). Today I feel almost 100% (little sore & still a little tired but overall I feel good).

My main complaint is that when I checked in on the 21st, I weighed 212 and when I checked out on the 22nd, I was up to 220 (I guess it is from all the IV fluids & swelling, but it was still hard to see that scale.) 4 days out and I am back to 211 so I am happy.

Everything went really well and I am so glad it is over. Just wanted to report in!!

My surgery was the 21st as well. I am healing well at home, in fact went back to work today. I too am on liquids diet til tomorrow than move to the mushies! My only issue is the gas pains...they are miserable and I would feel great if it wasn't for them. Does anyone have any suggestions to get rid of them or how long they last?

Also side note...my Dr. gave me a prescription for pain meds...but I am a college student as well and needed to be able to study...he suggested I take liquid tylenol for pain as needed and it has worked great! Just a suggestion for those struggling with those pain pills!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
