Well I have my 6mths supervised diet under my belt.

I had called my insurance to see if they got the charts for my approval. They said they send it out to a cert. place for approval. So I called them. The girl was awesome! She said they didnt have it yet and to call back at my Docs and that she would do the same. So I went out to mow and I had a message from the insurance lady from my docs office. She said she called also...and found out...my insurance dont send it to the cert. place anymore. My dh's work company has a lady that goes through it now for their company. Sooooooooooooo she said the process will take maybe 1-3 weeks instead of the 4-6 orginally. I asked her what she thought my chances were...so she got my chart and said with my BMI she cant see any reason why I wouldnt be approved. So now I have my hopes up...but trying to calm myself down and not set myself up for disappointment.

I weigh 317 now...and Im so ready to lose weight!

Any tips on making it through the 6 months?

I started at 330 BMI 50.2 and 1 doctor refused to band me because he said I was too big. I have another doctor and my band date is Oct 13. I know it will be a slow process to reach my goal, but it will be worth it.

Wow, I am surprised that someone refused to band you. Good for you for getting a different surgeon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
