Hi Everbody, I survived surgery on the 12th!

Recommended Posts

I was banded on August 12th also and still have gas. I have found the gas strips work wonders for that moment you take them...Walking of course helps too...I thought the pain in my shoulder was finally gone but woke up with it back again this morning.....Im feeling better, and realize that all the pain is and gas is worth the results in the end....My family and I went to Target yesterday and all of the walking there of course released the gas, of course I couldnt or wouldnt hold it in, my daughter just about died, when mom let it go as she said...Thank goodness no one was standing close but even if they where I hate it would have still happened...lol....

OMG - I actually lost 9 lbs since my surgery date. That morning I weighed in at 283.5 lbs (due to AF, I think) and today I got on the scale just for the heck of it.......and did it again 3 times (I thought I was HALLUCINATING! )......I am at 274 lbs!!!! I cannot believe it.....I know it is because I am only eating liquids and AF is now gone and surgery swelling has gone down......but I'LL TAKE IT!!! LOL

I am much better today, no more pain meds and I am just a little sore and still a little gas pressure in my chest, MUCH better though. I almost feel normal. My incision sites are still sore, especially if I lean on the table or something. I can actually sleep on my sides just fine now also. My baby keeps trying to jump on my lap, he just doesnt understand that it HURTS!! (He is only 19 mos old  ) Also, I have to sleep with a pillow on my tummy cause my kitties keep wanting scritches and try to walk on my belly at night.....heheheee, i guess they missed me while I was at the hospital.

Anywho, I am almost feeling normal again. I have been doing laundry and dishes and cooking for my family......that is kinda hard, luckily I am really not very hungry so it is not so bad. It was much worse on the first 2 days that I was home. I still have trouble reaching things on the floor and getting up out of bed in the morning, those are the times that I am the most sore and it is still not that bad. My C-section and hip replacement surgeries were MUCH worse as far as incision pain......

Hugs to all and I hope you are all hanging in there and doing well,

Judie

Judie that is awesome! You give me hope. I was banded the same day and I've lost one pound and gained it back, fluids I'm sure but still discouraging. I'm still having a lot of pain but it's better day by day. Big high five for you! (btw, what's AF?)

Hi all! Nice to see all the other August bandsters

I was banded on the 12th. All is fine now except I get these really bad spasms of pain that start just below my sternum and then seem to go up my espophagus... they last only a few seconds... then a few seconds later, another one comes. They seem to come in pairs like that. I can't find any relation to what I've just had to drink, or what position I'm in, or anything. I think they are just random spasms of the esophagus? Or perhaps reflux but I think that is less likely (I never had reflux before). Anyone else have this? I am HOPING it will go away eventually!!!

Happy weekend all!

-Julie

Yes, I had the spasms. My dr. said its normal, and he gave me some medicine for them. I didn't have the gas pains tho. Spasms lasted about a week.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
