The cost of a Fill

Recommended Posts

The Fill Center USA in NC charges $349 for the first fill/visit and $165 after that. That's high. From I understand, he does not have the flouro or any other methods.

I second that.... Same here in MI, and the the closest flouro on is in NJ..... Its crazy!!

However, I'll be moving to OH, and the doc's at the Cleveland Clinic want $2600 for the edg, which will be done so they can see where the band is at, then $217 for the fill, and $300 if I need to see the doc....

and unfortunately, I don't have an insurance that will cover it, or atleast I can't find someone in their office that can tell me if the after care is covered or not... UGH. I know the band wasn't, so I got mine done in MX...

I was banded in Mexico, paid cash for my surgery and there is one Dr. in the Dallas area that takes Mexico patients. I pay $250 each fill. My last fill was yesterday, 0.8 cc in a 10 cc band and I can barely drink Water. Thats my third fill since my surgery on thanksgiving last year. I have gotten 0.8 cc each time and have lost 47lbs. I never see the dr. only the tech but it is done with flouro/x-ray/barium and laticane before the injection.

I am being banded in Mexico on 6/29 but I have already set my aftercare up with a surgeon here. He will be charging me $75.00 per fill. There are many surgeons that are empathetic to the needs of the "uninsured" or "underinsured". Mine has agreed to take me on as one of his own patients as long as the band is an Allergan band and I bring back all of my labs, barium swallow and operations notes. I know I lucked out, but I had to dig. Other doctors wouldn't even touch me when they heard I was going to Mexico, but I finally found a doctor who both understands and cares. Good Luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
