Shoe Size Disappointment

Recommended Posts

Found this forum, I bought some new shoes today and was in a size 9W and not a 9 1/2. It depends on the shoes I think. I don't wear heels and haven't for years due to food problems, I hope with the weight off I can get some nice small heels.

Until I started having swelling issues, my feet never really looked like they belonged to a fat girl. My size 7 feet don't match me at all. Of course, I am just a BIT on the short size. Ok, a LOT on the short side.

I have really little sized feet (being only 4'11" that would make sense) and I usually wear a 6 1/2W or 7W. When I was thinner, I actually fit into a 5 1/2. I bought a pair of gladiator sandals that didn't fit and I was pretty disappointed, but I kept them anyway because I got banded yesterday and I know one day they will fit! (If that day comes and they aren't in style, I can just wait until it comes around again!)

I'm sure eventually your feet will shrink and you'll be wearing anything you desire! Good luck.

We don't really have W sizes (I'm assuming that means wide?) commonly in Australia unless you are buying a specialised brand. I probably needed a wide shoe at my highest weight though. I was in anything up to an 8.5 at my highest weight and could have NEVER squeezed my foot into a high heel of any kind, my feet were just too fat.

Last week I bought a hot pair of tan stilettos. Size 7. I have a fair few pairs of shoes I just can't wear anymore because they are too big (and actually probably wouldn't want to - I went more for total comfort than looks then)....I should give them to charity.

I would say that was true for my feet too - I would have had a wide fitting had they been available but they're just not common here in Australia. Now I can fit my feet into more dressy shoes than I could but they're still wide. And 5 year old Eliza's teeny little feet look like little squares too, they're just as wide and shapeless as mine.

But I was a size 10 and am STILL a size 10, just can fit into more size 10's kind of thing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
