HELP!!! - I have an itchy rash

Recommended Posts

I am 9 days post-op and I had laproscopic lapband preformed. I had these round tape things covering my steri-strips and it took what I assumed was a layer of my skin with them when they were removed last Tuesday. On Friday when I went for my 1 week visit, the doctor took off the steri-strips and said my incisions looked great. Now last night I noticed I started itching. Everywhere that I had the round bandages I now have these tiny little Fluid filled bumps that itch like bad. Last night I put some hydro-cortisone anti-itch cream on them. I'm scared that perhaps I have an infection or something.

Has anyone had a similar experience and if so, what did you do? I plan on calling the doctor tomorrow, but Sunday will be a long day if I don't get some sort of advice from you guys. If you haven't had the surgery yet, please don't tell me you think it's just an allergic reaction. I'm not an idiot I have pretty much figured that out. I just want to know if this is a normal occurance or not.

Thanks!

:)

It sounds like an allergic reaction to the bandages that you had. I get those too if I have adhesives on my skin too long. From band-aids even. Just keep them clean and if they itch use your hydro-cortisone.

I'm three weeks post op and have a rash going on too. I saw my doctor this past week and he didn't know what it was but put me on antibiotics just in case. He told me not to put any lotions on my stomach but to take Benadryl instead. It relieves the horrible itching but also makes me very sleepy.

I had them too. It was an allergic reaction to the adhesive. The doctor told me to just let warm, soapy Water wash over them when I showered. He said I could try some ointment, but to be very careful NOT to get it in the incisions b/c it would prevent them from healing properly. That frightened me, so I didn't use the ointment. Mine ended up scabbing over. Over time, they healed. But, you are right...they make you itch like crazy!

5 months post-op and completely remember the rash. Definitely an allergic reaction to the adhesive. Very common.

I can confirm all the above. I also had a ready itchy rash and tiny pustules around the edges of the rash. Definately, an allergic reaction. I used sterile gauage and micropore tape (the latter is a paper tape which is totally non allerogenic). I also took some anti histamine tablets. The rash is getting a little better now.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
