Ive been in a program for awhile for overweight teens & you have to go threw 6months of it before they actually tell u if ur able to get surgery or if you'll just continue the program if its not severe..

the problem is Im not just overweight Im obese & have lots of weight to lose

I get

Back problems

Problems Breathing

Borderline diabetic

& so on...

Diabeties/Cancer/Obesity & many many others things

like heart attacks/strokes & so on..

all runs in my family &

others things I dont like to talk about!

After only being in the program for 4months My doc told me that shed refer me as a canidate for it & thinks I need it & deserve it but I still have to wait awhile to see if Im actually able to get it..

What can I do to show that I'm a good canidate for this surgery???

It means the world to me & I really want but most importantly need this..

Hang in there. I found in my experience, that there are a lot of hoops to jump through ESPECIALLY if insurance has anything to do with it. The doctors have to fill out paperwork and put it in for insurance to approve, so the more things they have you do before is like "proof" for the insurance to approve, you know what I mean? I had to go to a support group, dietician, a psychiatrist...all of this to get insurance approval. If your dr. thinks you are a candidate then hang in there, he/she will advocate for you and it WILL happen

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
