I've noticed that some docs require no caffeine, some say that Decaf coffee is okay, and some say no coffee at all. Just wondering; what were your instructions? And do you have any idea why they say what they say? I think that caffeine is frowned upon because it is a diuretic, and coffee in general is frowned upon because it is acidic. But what are your experiences? Thanks for the help!!

I have not have a problem with caffeine. I do believe they say to avoid it because of all the reasons you listed and I remember a couple years ago when I did South Beach they said it was an appetite stimulant - so I think they just try to help us by avoiding anything that might be a stumbling point. Good luck!

My nutritionist told me to try to avoid caffeine for precisely the reason that it is a diuretic. She said for each cup of coffee that I drink I need to drink 2 extra cups of Water on top of my 8. Since I am having a hard time drinking my Water to begin with, I am pretty much avoiding coffee. I have to say tho that once I was able to have full liquids I had a cup, and it doesn't taste the same to me anymore, so I haven't really craved it. Maybe that will change down the line.

Between people wanting coffee in the morning and wine at night... they feel like you arent gonna drink enough water... Since we cant drink Water for 30 mins prior to each meal and 1 hr after each meal... and thats 3 times a day... thats like 6-8 hrs a day you cant drink water.. so when you throw coffee or wine in the mix.... you are getting alot less water then they want you having... And of course the diuretic part...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
