Is anyone NOT exercising???

Recommended Posts

Actually, Foofy and I's posts above were referring to the Aussie slang use of "dead horse" where its used in place of Tomato sauce (which is ketchup here is Australia). Thats where the rhyming thing came in.

I think we're on different tracks here with our 2 uses of the phrase. Foofy and I were totally off topic and you were talking about this specific thread.....am I right?

Absolutely! So, you must pronouce "tomato sauce" kind of like "tomato source" in order for it to rhyme with "dead horse". Hee hee - craziness! My aunt is from England and grew up with Cockney rhyming slang. She says things like "apples and pears" for stairs. I didn't realize you Aussies had the same affliction.:biggrin2:

How else can you pronounce sauce??? Sauce/source = complete homonyms.

I think I see where the problem is... it's not that we pronounce "sauce" like "source", it's that we pronounce "source" like "sauce". In an Aussie accent, an "R" in the middle of a word tends to disappear with barely an "h" sound to acknowledge it.

My Chicagoan husband is ALWAYS having a go at me about not pronouncing my Rs. He also thinks the way I say garage is hilarious. Its the Australian way though!

Ok, let's settle the linguistics battle with shots of Vegemite! Last person standing wins!!
Hehe - I'll beat you at Vegemite shots every time - we Aussies are weaned on the stuff!!

(Seriously - that was my daughter's first ever taste of anything other than breastmilk! At the health nurse's suggestion of course!)

Hi I am not exercising at all, mainly because at the same time my band was put in I had a double abdominal hernia repaired (4th one) and my other excuse is that "I Hate Exercise". My mother came out of hospital from having a knee replacement last week. My father had his done today. They are both living with me so, I'm constantly on the go, going to physio appts, food shopping, cooking, cleaning, fetching, picking up, washing, all the normal exciting housework stuff, and Oh yes, I run a Fancy Dress Hire Business from home as well, which means serving customers, cleaning costumes and wigs on their return, mending repairs and actually making the costumes as well. I guess I do get a little exercise in all that because I've gone from a size 24 top to fitting into a size 16 top today and it's not even tight. Couldn't believe it. Absolutely stoked!. Mind you, I feel it's about time to book into the funny farm for a rest before I drop. I also have sleep apnea and use a cpap machine but hopefully not for much longer. Good luck to everyone.

Wow! Thanks for the insight Fanny. That would not have occured to me. In the US, many New England areas also do not pronouce their "R"s. While in other parts of the country, they throw in extra "R"s (ex. "wash" sounds like "warsh").

Didn't mean to take this thread on such a tangent, but it was educational.

When I was first banded I exercised religiously. Now, I've got so much going on in my life I just don't have time. I've changed some habits though, parking farther away etc... but I was loosing more when I was able to exercise. Although, I DO keep paying for the gym month after month!

Well, I play with my Wii Fit when I can, but like so many others, my life is hectic and I don't always get to it. Hopefully things will start calming down now. My son joined the Navy in Dec and recently completed a-school for Air Traffic Controller and my daughter just bought her first house and moved out last weekend. I'm an empty nester now!:wink2:

I exercise now. For a month or two I quit and I did stop losing, but I also needed a fill quite badly. I started exercising for weight loss, but when I do it now it's for pride.

I also wanted to say greythope and kizzie. I loved your post. It's like I was reading my thoughts.

I only post "advice" type things in my monthly support group sections, mostly because when I am looking for advice I am feeling low and a few of the veteran banders way of putting things wouldn't actually help me. I think they help alot of people, but the way they put things would do nothing but anger me and I wouldn't be able to focus on the good advice they are trying to give me. Tough love works for some, I am more of a "positive reinforcement" gal.

Good luck to everyone and much wishes of success to all the ones still working for their goal. And much respect and well wishes for those hard working ones who have reached theirs.

Hi Billiedaycare, I was banded on the 9th June 2008 and know exactly what you mean about feeling tired all the time. I mentioned it to my surgeon but he really didn't have an answer, so I asked if Vitamins would help. He then suggested maybe soluble ones. Trouble is, I'm having trouble with wind pain in the chest and usually bring everything up. I tried Gasbusters capsules yesterday and ended up having an even worse night. I thought I'd have heaps of energy by now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
