When did your weight loss "slow down"?

Recommended Posts

Okay, so people who are really overweight will lose a lot of it very quickly, but they always told me as I get closer to my ideal weight things would get slower and harder to come off.

I started at 280. I'm down to 196 today. I was 192 on friday, why am I gaining it back now? It's strange because throughout the week my weight will go down, but then somepoint in the next week it will spike up again. This has been going on for like 3 weeks now. Did it happen to you guys like this?

Hi:

I teeter-totter with two to three pounds alot now that I'm getting closer to goal. I'm guessing that is why they tell you to weigh yourself just once per week so that it doesn't make you crazy!

Congratulations on your loss.

Sue

I had a BMI of 36 when banded, I got a year of steady, fairly effortless weight loss. After that I had long plateaus (months at a time) and lost about 30lb the second year. Its nearly my birthday again and I was reflecting this time last year I was 74kg, so I've lost about 10lb over the last 12 months.

In all that time, until the last six months, I never gained a single pound. Now I've pretty much stabilised I do cycle up and down by 2 or 3lb. I'm at the heavy end at the moment having just had a small unfill of .2ml a few weeks back.

It was too big an unfill on reflection, I'm starving now and dont even have to eat slowly! But I got inexplicably tight all of a sudden, probably due a the unfortunate coincidence of PMT and a plane flight happening at the same time. Might head back to have half that put back in, I definitely dont like spending more time at the heavy end of my range than at the lighter!

I have to say that for me the first 115 lbs just flew right off. The last ten I have had to really fight for and I still want to lose 47 more. I have pretty decent restriction right now, I make healthy food choices so I am pretty sure that I am going to have to change my exercise routine to get to goal. Right now I walk 5X a week for 90 min blocks I guess maybe I need to try taebo or something different.

I am having some of the same issues as the other posters. The first 80 pounds flew off with hardly any help from me. I was losing extremely fast. Then since November 07, I have only lost 27 pounds.

I also see the same thing on my scale as far as being low one day and then next time looking like I gain 10 pounds....the next few days are back down to the low number again. I cycle 130 miles a week, averaging 16-19 mph, so I am buring mega calories....

I have less than 30 pounds to go to reach my personal goal(less than 50 to reach doctors), and it just is hard. But, as long as I don't gain the weight back I guess I will take it. Good luck to you!!!

man, thanks for the responses.

Unfortunately Im back at 198 today! yuck! I hate that I'm gaining weight right now. I think i need to get on a more hard core diet. Previously i didnt really have to worry about going hungry because I was exercising sooo much. But now that alone isn't quite cutting it.

I have started to do alot more lifting. Maybe that accounts for some of the weight gain, but it still doesnt feel good. I really hope it goes back down soon. I dont really look any different, but I feel different. Bloated.

Maybe its Water weight?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
