Hello from Boston, Mass

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new to the site (obviously), I will be banded in Texas by Dr. Rincon on October 14, 2008, I am very nervous and excited at the same time. One of my biggest concerns is, I just don't see how I can stop eating, i mean i am a food-aholic and how do you just not want to eat a whole pizza anymore??? I also wonder how you go 2 weeks with just liquids, again I'm a fodd-aholic and you only want me to drink for 14 days, that scares me! I love this site and so glad I found it. Thanks Leann

Good Morning! I had the same thoughts and concerns as you did! I am being banded in Boston on August 11th. When it got closer I got more determined. The worst was the first 3 days of the pre-op diet. I am fine now and I am down 6 lbs from last monday. I had 3 Meal Replacements and one low-cal, low-carb, high Protein meal. You kind of just go into a mind set that now is the time and there is no turning back. Trust me I was devasted that I couldn't have no more red robin, macaroni grill or anything high in fat.

Trust me this is a change for life and you can do it!

Hi, thanks for the quick response!!!! I also mean, how do you not eat after the surgery, like won't I still want to go out and eat at a buffet, or will that all change for me, cause I won't beable to , meaning the band will not allow me to do it!! I was told by others to listen to your band and you will automatically know when your full!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
