It has been awhile sine I have been on here reading or responding, I usually just like to read and throw my two senses in every now and then. But the last time I was on here was June 18th, and that was the day of my horrible 2nd fill attempt that never happened. After 12 pokes it turns out I have to have surgery to fix the port device and to this day have not had a fill or the surgery yet..of-course due to tricare and the way the doc worded the procedure. I am scheduled to have the surgery on Aug. 26th, but it has been so hard the past month. First since I only had one fill and that was on May 21st, two weeks after that I was able to eat anything, and still that hasn't changed. Now I surely I can't eat as much as I could prior to me being banded, but I can eat alot, and drink at the same time. Sometimes I try to control myself and yes, sometimes I am reminded that I have the band still cause my food gets stuck and my god that hurts. I haven't gained anything I lost so far and I haven't lost anymore. I am steady at what I was before. It is just frustrating and I feel that somehow I have let myself down and the tool that was given to me, but also that it let me down. I know, I know...it was told to me that there could be complications with this device oneday or there couldn't..I just hoped that there wouldn't be.

I also had surgery a week and 1/2 ago for a partial thyroid removal and they found that I have hasimoto thyroiditis. I know thats not bad, but it puts ALOT of things into perspective for me. I will be on meds for the rest of my life.

I just feel lost with all this and I need to get back on track. I am constantly exhausted and feel as if I have no energy left to work out. I am a stay at home mom with a 17mth old (really 13.5 mths old, she was preemie). Not an excuse I know, but I am trying to figure out why I am so tired and lacking drive.

Sorry so long, I just needed to vent a bit.

Dorissa

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis 10 years ago right after the birth of my son. I though I was the worst mother because I was tired all the time but basically my thyroid had stopped working and, consequently, so had my metabolism. It's not your fault that you are tired all the time. Although the thryoid medication helps, I still have days where its takes all my energy just to get out of bed. If they have you on Synthroid, that's an artificial thyroid replacement that mainly replaces your T4 (one of the thyroid hormones). Some people (like me) do better with the natural thyroid replacement called Armour thyroid or Westhroid. It come from pigs and replaces both T4 and T3 (another thyroid hormone). It's not any more expensive than the Synthroid but a lot of doctors just proscribe the Synthroid out of habit. Do not feel bad about yourself. Hashimoto's is an auto-immune disease which just means that your body has attacked your thyroid gland and it's not working right anymore. Caring for a young child is exhausting in and of itself and your body just has thrown you a curve ball. Make sure that you are honest with your doctor about your energy levels because that's the only way to make sure that your getting the right type and dosage of whatever thyroid medication you are on. Good luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
