Recommended Posts

okay the search engine seems to not like me so im gonna have to post new question sorry if you've answered before. Tonight i threw up. was feeling crappy most of the day ended up throwing up. Not supper hard but still nice amount. After i could actually feel my band, before now, i have never really noticed it for a moment it kinda was like a burning sensation then it was fine again.. Im kinda worried, has people thrown up and had their band stay put and not slip? Im a lil over a month and worry maybe it hadnt' had enough time to set yet. Im interested in hearing what you all have to say. And yes ill see about emailing my doc to. Thanks.

I was told by my doc that one time usually is not enough to do damage. It is repeated throwing up as with the flu that is the problem. I would definitely contact them though to see if they are concerned. You might be tight now, you may need to do liquids for a day or so if the area is swollen.

I have a couple of times over 6 months or so. It was always a one-off event and I did not have any permanent damage that I can tell. It was never really violent and I noticed it only happened on days where I was feeling sick throughout the day. I stayed on liquids for 1-2 days after and I was fine.

I had another day last week where I was just feeling kind of sick all day just recently and I stayed on liquids. I never vomitted at all but I think I would have if I had ingested anything much. I think I have finally figured out how to avoid it by going on liquids before it ever occurs.

Liquids are always good if you are feeling a little under the weather to give your band a rest. I used to have a stomach of Iron but now it seems like a minor cold can affect my stomach. I am definitely ultra-sensitive now.

I threw up like 4 times right out of my lap band surgery from the anestesia.. And I had to get an unfill today due to some pb'ing.. but I had none of the signs like acid reflux and night coughs so they feel that I'm okay. And I know I was fine from the throwing up right after surgery becuase they did a barium swallow on me before I left and said everything was fine...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
