Anyone getting banded in AUGUST

Recommended Posts

Good Luck Michelle, You won't need it though :)

I purchsed my first pair of size 18 jeans from the normal section on thw weekend. i used to squeeze into a size 24. That made everything that I have gone through well worth it.

Good luck to those being banded tomorrow. I am going well now and have started the blended food, glad the liquids are gone. I don't miss them at all. I can't wait for normal food. I am not rushing though, I am not hungry at all I seem to have just the right amount at the moment. I have my first fill on the 11th Sept, and a dietian appoint 26th August. I willkeep you all up to date and I hope you will do the same. Again good luck but it will be worth it I know.

I GOT MY BAND YESTERDAY :biggrin2:I am on my 2 weeks of free fluids now. There's not alot I can eat...well....drink, but I'm not that hungry yet anyway. Its still a little sore but its not that bad really. I went into theatre at 10am and at about 4pm on the ward I was bursting to go to the toilet so I just got up and went. It was less painfull being up and walking about than it was lying in the bed. I am home now and doing fine. Lifting my baby, making his feeds, tidying around the house.

So here goes, day one of being banded, I already weighed myself this morning aand was a kilo heavier than yesterday and all i had yesterday was a few sips of Water. I think its all the gas and stuff as my tummy is still bloated from the op.

Hi mumof2,

Yes you would be full of gas I hope you have went out and bought degas. John my husband was so full of gas it was unbelieveable and he was in such a lot of pain from it, so I went out and purchased degas and that cured him.

I have a supply for myself for when I go in taking no chances.

Sam

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
