I have been trying to lose some more weight before sugery and the last time I was weighed in the doc's office I was at 311. Ok that's fine. Then that next week I got weighed at my cardiology appointment and weighed at 303. Ok that seems nearly impossible but I'm not arguing. laugh.gif Today I stepped on the scale at my house and it still reads that I'm 311. I even came to work and used the scale here and it reads that I'm at 305. angry.gif Either my scale at home sucks big time or I haven't really lost anything and the other scales are just lying to me. What do you think? Should I just accept the averages from 2 different scales or go by the one at home?

You need to go by one scale.. they are all calibrated differently.. i know when i weigh myself at work (i work at a hospital and weigh daily) .. i do not not compare that weight to what i weigh in my surgeon's office ... the only thing that is accurate is the # of lbs lost ... so if you weighed 311 at home and then next time you weigh yourself at home, you weigh 300, then you know you have lost 11 lbs .. but the actual total weight you know will be off a bit ..

is it a digital scale or one that has the hand that goes around, it its the hand that goes around make sure before u step on it the hand is at 0 and not at a couple pounds, i have a scale that does it and its cause it only has a certain weight limit it can handle.

I had the same problem and just had to pick one and stick with it. scales definitely have significant variance. If you are always relying on one scale for basic measurement, then you know if you have really lost.

use 1 scale and weigh yourself when you get up in the mornings.

I have 2 scales...mine and my docs. And my doc's is always 2lbs more than mine. That's accurate enough for me. And no guess which one I go by-HA!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
